1.
Menagerie 04:34
I've got a golden bird In a wooden cage And the door is wide... But she won't escape.
2.
Over the town the clouds are a pale sickly green The dust in the air obscures the fly-blown Dairy Queen. This house and yard are an oasis of clean clear air. The storm is rising everywhere but here it seems.
3.
I remember I awakened returning in the air over rivers dreaming, But the streets stayed distant and out of scale as if I never made the landing. And through these rooms I drifted but everything seems to have shifted. Through these senses riddled hollowness must have sifted.
4.
Tahlequah 03:59
Hey oh wah take me out of Tahlequah I wanna walk the ground beyond the borders of this town.
5.
'Cause when you come in from the cold, even warmth feels like pain.
6.
7.
I was subterranean I was homesick and blue But I felt so high With you.
8.
9.
Combustion 04:01
Midnight's vacuum heart can pulse, But it lies shattered by the dawn.
10.
Now every morning there's friction in your smile, You get out on the road and you drag it a crowded mile. All through the day there's a nagging at your spine Was I really made to walk this earth and not master my own time?
11.
These pictures they will come to you in the silence before dawn Ghostly glowing images you can neither turn off nor turn on. They will tremble as they rise into the flickering of your eyes and then be gone. Prepare yourself, prepare The night is coming on. And the wind sweeps around this house, you can hear it sighing low. Just outside the trucks roll by down Telegraph Road. A man he reaches down to you, his intention is unclear. And you look around you at the gutterway he has pointed out is here. You don't believe enough to stand but still you shake his hand and then he disappears. Well your pockets now are empty, except for a wallet full of fear. The day has spent itself, you decide to go on home. You walk along the side streets cause it's not safe on Telegraph Road. A woman stands beside you. She is a friend though barely known. She says "The garden stands around us here, though the weeds are overgrown" "And though the seeds they go untended, undefended, they will grow up wild and strong." You two are close beyond your reason who knows for how long. She takes you on her motorcycle, cause you're so eager to go. And you ride out in the the evening down Telegraph Road. There are just so many wires, just so many strings, Just so many people who believe in anything. There are just so many fireflies in the dark beneath the trees. Just so many avenues promising release. Take your chances now, lean behind the load. And tell me what it's like to see the end of Telegraph Road.
